| On this Vietnam War Veterans Day, I bring you a glimpse of what Army Engineers were doing in Vietnam 56 years ago. This is a video I took of the construction of MSR (Main Supply Route) Zinc from Ben Cat to Phuoc Vinh by the 34th Engineer Battalion, 159th Engineer Group, using an ancient technique called a "corduroy road" to overcome bottomless mud. This project took 17,880 tons of rock, 1,500 creosoted telephone poles and 72,680 manhours for 500 meters of corduroy. It was the first of its type built in Vietnam.
